Castello di Quirra

The Quirra Castle is located on the top of Mount Cudias in the territory of Villaputzu in south-eastern Sardinia. It was built in the twelfth century to guard the border with the Giudicato di Gallura, and is a suggestive fortified building, of which only the remains remain today, from which you can admire a splendid view of the sea and the internal territory as the castle is located at a height of 296 meters. Numerous legends are connected to it, especially concerning the Carroz and Violante Carroz family, described as bloodthirsty and greedy, who apparently died right inside the castle.
