Description

The Corbeddu Cave is located in the Lanaittu valley, near Oliena in the province of Nuoro. It takes its name from the bandit Giovanni Salis Corbeddu, who lived in the mid-nineteenth century, who chose this natural hollow as a refuge. The cave is relatively small, with its 130 meters in length, and is divided into four rooms of great importance for the number of archaeological finds. In its cavities the remains of the first Homo Sapiens and animal bone fragments have been identified, including those of the Prolagus Sardus Wagner, a sort of rodent that lived twenty million years ago. The cave is a beautiful journey into the past, very interesting from a historical but also naturalistic point of view, in fact inside it is possible to admire ancient stalactites and stalagmites that in some points rejoin.
