Description

The beautiful Caves of San Michele are caves located south of the town of Ozieri. They owe their name to the ancient presence of a small place of worship dedicated to the archangel Michael. The archaeological importance of the caves was highlighted when many artifacts of refined workmanship were found, in particular ceramics, belonging to the Neolithic and even more ancient, belonging to the culture of San Ciriaco. The authoring civilization of these artifacts was defined as the "civilization of San Michele" and, starting from the seventies, more commonly "culture of Ozieri".
