Museo archeologico di Ozieri

The Archaeological Museum Le Clarisse is located in the territory of Ozieri, in the heart of Sardinia. It is housed in the eighteenth-century building of the former Convent of the Poor Clares and houses a rich collection of finds from various periods, from the Neolithic to the Middle Ages. Of particular importance is the numismatic collection among the richest in Sardinia. The exhibition is divided into five sections; the prehistoric section houses part of the finds from the culture of San Michele or Ozieri, coming from the cave of the same name in Ozieri; the historic section is characterized by a considerable number of nuragic art effect, including a gold sheet and bronzes both for use and for worship: of particular importance is the model of nuraghe from Cardianu, the lead weights, an ingot from Bisarcio, the bronze statue of the "pugilatore" from San Luca. The historical section displays milestones, steels, finds from necropolis and places of worship from the Roman age, as well as ornamental art effect in bronze, silver and gold and clothing items dating back to the early and late Middle Ages. One section is dedicated to numismatics, with a large series of coins from the Greek colonial age up to the Savoy period. The fifth section consists of donations made by the heirs of citizens of Ozieri and include, among other things, a series of portraits, photographs and period objects, historical documentation.
