Description
Museum of the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta and Santa Cecilia is located in the city of Cagliari, in the southern part of Sardinia. It is a thirteenth century building originally in Pisan Romanesque style, it was modified during the seventeenth and eighteenth century. The facade, dating back to 1930 is neo-Romanesque. Richly adorned with poly chrome marbles, paintings and frescoes by Filippo Figari. The precious presbytery, the Aragonese Gothic Chapel of the Sacra Spina, the seventeenth-century mausoleum and the Pisan Chapel deserve special attention. In the crypt, with its 179 niches, the Sanctuary of the Martyrs houses the remains of the martyrs of Cagliari.
