Museo della Città-Palazzo della Frumentaria

Description

The Palazzo della Frumentaria (or Frumentaria) is a complex located within the historic walls of the city of Sassari in that part of the urban settlement that represented the nucleus for public utility services such as the slaughterhouse, the fish market and the weighbridge. The Frumentaria, built in two phases, the first from 1597 to 1598 and the second from 1607 to 1608, collected and could keep for a whole year the important reserve of grain to be used in the event of famine or sieges. The palace has undergone various uses over the years and after being the subject of major restorations, starting from 2000, it has been opened as an exhibition space for exhibitions related to both the tradition of Sardinia figurative art and the international art world. .
