Museum delle Ferrovie dello Stato

Description

The State Railways Museum is located in the city of Cagliari, in southern Sardinia. Located inside the Cagliari railway station and inaugurated in 1985, it exhibits unique pieces such as the control desk of the D.C.O (central operational management) or centralized control by remote control given by a single operating station and one of the few surviving steam locomotives, series D 744.003, which was used in connections between the north and south of the island. It collects documents and objects that testify to the development of the Sardinia railway network since the end of the nineteenth century. Among the most relevant pieces you can admire the lounge of the royal carriage, destroyed by the bombings of 1943, the furniture of the ticket office, the safes, the official railway clocks and the rail bikes.
