Description

The most important Museum in the city of Sassari and Central - northern Sardinia in terms of size and important of the collections. It rapresents the history of the territoires of the Sardinian provinces starting from the lower Paleolithic ( 500.000 years B. C. ) up to the 18th century. The archaological section consists of 7 rooms of the hypogrnic tombs, the so - called " Domus de Janas ", the fourth room is dedicated to the Nuragic civilization, the fifth is called Phoenician - Punic, the sixth is  the Roman room dedicated to the city of Turris Lybissonis, founded by the Romans on the site of today's Porto Torres . the last is the medieval one.
