Palazzo D'Arcais

Description

Palazzo D’Arcais is located in the heart of the city of Oristano, in central western Sardinia, and was built by Don Damiano Nurra Conca whose noble title was Marquis d'Arcais. The title D’Arcais derives from two fish ponds that were part of the heritage of the Marquis, located near Zerfaliu, Arcai Mannu and Arcai Pittau. The facade of the building, built in trachyte stone, is simple and essential in its linearity, interrupted only by the semicircular balconies made of black wrought iron. Inside there is a polychrome dome that illuminates the internal hall and the stairs leading to the upper floors. Recently renovated by the provincial administration of Oristano, it is used for cultural events but is intended to be the seat of the future Regional Museum of Sardinia Giudicale.
