Torre dell'Elefante

The Elephant Tower is a monument located in the southern part of Sardinia, in the city of Cagliari. It was built by the Pisans as a defense to the fortified castle together with the Tower of San Pancrazio (its twin) in the 14th century. When the Aragonese conquered Sardinia, the northern part of the tower was closed to be used as a ware house and housing for Spanish officials. In the early 1900s it was restored and brought back to its original conditions.
