Castello di Burgos

Description

In central northern Sardinia, at the foot of Mount Rasu, in the territory of Sassari, there is a delightful village dominated by the Goceano Castle, also known as the Burgos Castle. This fortress built at 647 meters above sea level is made up of a triple wall, perimeter walls and the main tower that stands fifteen meters high. The castle seems to have been built during the first half of the 12th century by the judge Gonario II of Lacon-Gunale. The structure is still in a good state of conservation and inside it is still possible to appreciate the subdivision of the internal areas (manor area, military area, prisons and the large tank space for collecting rainwater), while the main tower is recently restored.
