Pozzo Sacro Presoneddu

Description

In the municipality of Cardedu, in the locality of Is Cugudadas, in central eastern Sardinia, it is possible to admire the massive sacred nuragic well Presoneddu whose name derives from the fact that it was probably used as a rural prison. It is in a good state of conservation, it presents the temple structure used in Sardinia during the Bronze Age and linked to the cult of water: it consists of a part that acts as an entrance at ground level and an underground part (the cell) connected from a flight of stairs. The bas-reliefs engraved in the lintel of access to the staircase are definitely interesting.
