GNV BLU

GNV Blu is a ro-ro ferry built in 1986 by Van der Giessen de Noord as Koningin Beatrix for SMZ. She came under the ownership of Stena Line in 1989 and was renamed Stena Baltica in 2003. She was sold to SNAV in 2013.

After being laid up for three years, the ship was sold to the Italian shipping company SNAV, which modernized her and brought her up to the standards of its ships at the shipyards at the port of Naples. The SNAV Adriatic has been in service on the Ancona-Split route since April, with four departures a week from Ancona and three from Split: she is capable of covering the route in just 10 hours with departure at 9:30 p.m. from Ancona and arrival at 7:00 a.m. in Split.

In 2015 it was then chartered to Trasmediterranea for connections to the Balearic Islands.

Since June 21, 2017, she has been chartered to GNV on the Naples-Palermo route until July 2021 with a charter option for an additional three years.

As of Sept. 3, 2020, she is chartered by the Ministry of the Interior to be used as a quarantine ship as part of the emergency landings in Sicily, operating in the ports of Lampedusa, Augusta, Porto Empedocle and Trapani.

On Feb. 5, 2022, the ship transferred to Grandi Navi Veloci and changed its name to GNV Blu.
