Description

Capo Falcone, is a wild paradise in the extreme north-western tip of Sardinia, made of very dark rocks, overlooking the open sea. The name derives from the Torre del Falcone, built on the top of the cape in 1557, an integral part of a defensive system against Saracen raids which included five other nearby coastal towers. From the terrace where the tower stands, the highest in the whole of Nurra: at two hundred meters high, you can enjoy a breathtaking view, an extraordinary contrast between the two sides: to the west, high and impervious cliffs overlooking the suggestive ' mare di fuori '(sea of Sardinia), dark blue and agitated by the winds; to the east the 'sea inside', sheltered by the natural barrier and renamed 'of the seven colors': transparent, light blue, turquoise, blue, emerald green, cobalt blue and deep. Here the water is almost always calm and the seabed is very shallow for tens of meters, where the famous Pelosa beach is located. This coexistence of two extremely different landscapes at a distance of a few meters is the peculiarity of Stintino.
