Description

The Nuragic Complex of Palmavera is one of the most important sites that the Nuragic civilization has built on the island. Located at the foot of the mountain of the same name, the complex is made up of two towers, located in the center of a pentagonal wall that includes three towers, some huts and the Capanna delle Riunioni. The village extends all around, now made up of about fifty huts but it is thought, considering the remains, that there were a greater number of them. One of the most evocative environments is represented by the Hut of the Meetings, with a counter-seat inside that follows the circular path of the hut where the most important people of the village took their places.Among the finds that are exhibited at the Archaeological Museum of Sassari and in the Museum of Alghero, vases of all shapes and sizes, a bronze button representing a quadrilobed Nuraghe, some oil lamps and many other objects that testify the history of this ancient village.
